>> Important Considerations

Find the chart (on the menu at right) that most closely represents your situation
and swimming lifestyle.

Some big concerns about the Limited District ("LD") are the taxes/fees to be paid by and pool use/availability by residents.  In order to estimate how much money a resident might save under a given scenario, one must consider the totality of property taxes, swimming pool fees, and frequency of use.  The charts listed at right contain data which illustrates that point and are intended to help you answer questions like these:

  • How much will my tax bill be?
  • How does an extra LD tax compare to not having the tax?
  • Is it worth paying a LD tax in order to keep the parks/pools as they are today?

The charts on these pages compare estimated taxes/fees to be paid under various annexation scenarios and make the following assumptions based on current numbers:

► Property Value
$160,000
► City of Austin Property Exemption for over 65 or disabled, $51,000
► City of Austin Tax Rate
2007 tax rate of .4034 per $100 valuation
► Limited District Tax Rate .19/$100 and the 2007 MUD property exemption of 20% of property value
(.19/$100 is assumed in order to raise approximately $1 million in property tax revenue for maintenance and operations expenses currently spent by the MUD on parks/pools.  This assumed tax rate reflects park/pool maintenance costs only, and does not include money for capital improvements.)
► Pool Fees 2007 fees charged by the City and the MUD
